Trailblazing the way to sustainability with technology! Opening an eventful day filled with cross-sharing, learning and business networking opportunities was an address by Guest of Honour, Mr Jeffrey Siow, Managing Director & Chief Operating Officer, Enterprise Singapore, who spoke about technology as a solution to water sustainability, as well as the importance of a vibrant start-up ecosystem for the local water industry.
A forum designed to connect innovators with partners, buyers, and inventors to accelerate commercialisation of new water technologies from lab to market, TechXchange was brought to life through the sharing of insights by 24 industry leaders, alongside 12 water start-ups from India, Canada, Singapore, UK, USA who pitched and showcased their innovative solutions.
Water technologies on closing the resource loop in the areas of digital water and circular economy, such as AI-powered analytics platforms, condition assessment to mercury-free UV LED disinfection technologies took centre stage and were vying for the Most Valuable Technology and Rising Star Awards – all of which a hit with the delegates attending.
MOU Exchange – Enterprise Singapore and Manila Water
As we innovate around water access to build capacity and promote sustainability, Enterprise Singapore and Manila Water inked an MOU earlier today at the TechXchange forum. This MOU will involve collaboration between Singapore and Manila for the test-bedding of water technologies in the Philippines.
Hot Issues Workshops
The Water Convention 2022 Hot Issues Workshops that took place today gave deep-dives into emerging topics such as digital transformation of the water sector, future of seawater desalination, sustainable wastewater management, coastal revitalisation, consumer’s inclusivity in reuse and recycling of domestic water and carbon circularity. These workshops ran on a highly interactive, panel discussion-based format, providing a focused platform to stimulate more open engagement between experts and delegates on ‘hot’ or emerging issues facing the water industry today.
SWA Golf @ SIWW2022
Close partnerships have been vital in shaping the Singapore Water Story. This morning’s tee off at the SWA Golf @ SIWW2022 saw some 150 golfers meeting and networking with Ministers, high level government officials, water utility leaders, heads of industry and opinion makers in the water business.
Graced by Minister of State, Mr Desmond Tan, and co-organised by the Singapore Water Association (SWA) and SIWW, the tournament formed the ideal setting to create and strengthen partnerships face-to-face, exchange knowledge, and work together to build a secure and sustainable water future.
Young Water Leaders Programme Fireside Chat
The SIWW2022 Young Water Leaders Programme kicked off this afternoon with a welcome session for 15 international young leaders. With diverse backgrounds and experiences, the participants enjoyed the time meeting and networking with fellow peers. This was followed by a fireside chat with Beverley Stinson, Executive Vice President, Global Water Business Line Leader at AECOM, who shared her personal career journey in the water profession. Held in conjunction with the Singapore International Water Week 2022, the global platform for sharing and co-creation of water solutions, it underpins the draw of Singapore as a destination for our next-gen leaders to achieve the next level of success.
